No. I think it was what the players in the league need right now. Roger Goodell is a new commissioner and he had to set the example that he was not a push over. Any situation that comes up in his first six months is going to be handled like this. He has to prove himself. Also, players now do not respect the game or the rules. Too many of them think they are above rules and laws, especially the wide receivers. I hope the rest of the league takes notice and straightens up or else the NFL will start to look like the NBA.

I live in Nashville and am a Titans fan, but I thought the 5 game suspension was too lenient. That was uncalled for. He will still be punished by the Titans and Jeff Fisher in addition to the NFL suspension.

NO!! This guy really has issues. It was SO intentional, and it
was SO obvious that he did it because he was MAD as hell.
It could of been his grandmother laying there bleeding, he just wanted to hurt SOMETHING.
DID You see his reaction to the Zebra when it was called, ??
How could he think he would get away with it.
ARROGANT ASShole,
I Thought he was going to punch the REF.
He should be in Jail or Nursery School... Not the NFL!!!

OK I NEVER heard 5 stiches. What may have been said was one cut took 5 stitches. Having gotten multiple lacerations that needed stitches before I understand how they word it. First they list each cut then the total. After that news would likely just switch to the total instead of one cut need X number and a second cut need this number and third cut needed this number. They add it all up and say ok he got this many. I would guess their were multiple lacerations based on him being kicked by a guy with cleats. Yeah I think the stomp really makes it sound worse then it was BUT there was INTENT TO INJURE in some way. If anything it isn't enough. I think the man needed suspended for the season. Got the guy's helmet off so he could get a better blow. Also I don't think talk of plastic surgery needs to get out. My guess is if it is done it is cosmetic. I got stitches on my cheek, as I said multiple lacerations were left. So all got stitched up. The doctor mentioned about plastic surgery as cosmetic because it was on the face. So my guess of the plastic surgery would be cosmetic because some don't want to have scars on their face. Oh and yeah stitches do leave scars.

No, it should've been LONGER, because there's no place for that crap in football! What kind of message does it send to the NFL if their new commisioner acts too soft on doling out punishments? What does it say to younger players?

No way... he deserved to be suspended for the rest of the year without pay.
The police might press charges on him...
He deserves more punishment. What he did was uncalled for and gutless.
What if he hit Andre Gurode's eye... or if he was wearing metal spikes.
The league should have used him as an example and let the players know that they will pay for incidents like this.

No, the way the footage was shown, I thought he would be suspended for the whole season. I guess he got lucky there.

I personally think the suspension is too small. He should be suspended for the entire season. According to this NFL articlehttp://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9701…
He had 30 stitches and is discussing with a plastic surgeon to deal with the 7 lacerations Haynesworth caused with his action. You realize that he probably had metal spikes on his shoes? His face will be scarred for the rest of his life. If this happened off of a football field, the man would be in prison.
quote from the article:
"Meanwhile, Gurode had other more pressing matters to deal with Monday. He spent the day meeting with a plastic surgeon, being apprised of the best ways to deal with the seven lacerations and 30 stitches that Haynesworth left him with. It is still possible that his client could play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles."
