All the cooks and Chefs of the United States thank you for that information.
Did you investigate how the carcasses of the dead birds are processed? Here in the US, the dead birds are plucked and then pitched into a “cooling vat” with thousands of other birds where the dead bodies are leaking various body fluids. So, it is a cesspool of floating chickens. In the end, at the last stage, they spray the cleaned and ready for packaging chickens with a clorox spray to kill pathogens on the skin. Then they inject the birds with a chemical salt solution to mask any off flavors. That solution adds extra weight to the carcass so any price per pound also includes the water weight.
The same methods happen in the turkey grower factory farms.
This is why I choose to raise my own meat animals; chickens, turkeys, sheep and pigs. We slaughter them ourselves and process the chickens and turkeys right here on the farm.
If you haven’t done so, I’d recommend that you further your education and go to a poultry factory farm and see if they will let you observe their practices.
Affordable price, but at what cost to health?
