I don’t know a good reference source offhand, but one person who could definitely point you in the right direction is Steve Beverly, who runs the site http://www.tvgameshows.net. He’s a university professor with a great deal of knowledge of TV / broadcast journalism, media and pop culture, etc. His site has all sorts of interviews and he writes all sorts of analyses on various game shows and hosts. Ask him what he’d recommend as far as books or Web sites go. He might even be able to answer your question himself.
