Im doing an essay about supplying information to management, and im now stuck on my second to last paragraph, if anyone could help with some suggestions it would be great
… Explain the 3 qualities of Management information: Relevance, Timely and Valuable.
All organizations rely on information to monitor their operations and finances. To accomplish this organizations develop Management Information Systems [MIS] which are designed to provide decision makers within the organization with information on which to make sound decisions. Information has certain qualities which affect its usefulness. Information first must be relevant. That is to say the information must be amount the things that are important to the operation of the business. This could be the number of defective products, amount of returned checks, number of gallons processed…whatever it is it must be specific information which is vital to that organization. Next the information must reach the right decision makers on a timely basis. Information is no good if it is received to late to make a difference. Most organizations have formal information systems such as production reports, budgets etc. that provide decision makers with the right king of information on a timely basis. Last the information must be able to make a difference. Just like a gas gage in your car which provides relevant information on a timely basis and is essential [valuable] to decisions making [ie fill your gas tank]. That’s the five minute lecture hoped it helped.
